From Finance to Family: Danielle’s Life Comes a Full Circle

My caregiving journey began when I was 25. My grandmother had fallen on a tile floor and broken her hip, which led to her being in a wheelchair from that point on.

At the time, I was working as a financial planner, so I dove deep into researching money, tools, and resources to support both my caregiving role and to learn how to better help others in similar situations.

To my surprise, I quickly realized there was a lack of resources specifically designed for family caregivers. I began speaking with other caregivers and became involved in various nonprofits that specialized in family caregiving. This was the start of a journey that would change my life forever.

One of the most rewarding aspects of caregiving was watching the bond between my daughter and my grandmother grow. We didn’t expect my grandmother to recover, let alone return home after her injury. So, being able to spend those extra moments with her, watching their connection deepen, was a blessing I will forever be grateful for.

During that time, I was also able to learn more about my grandmother by simply asking her questions, something I hadn’t done enough of before. It was a special opportunity that not only brought me closer to her, but also allowed me to discover my own passions at a young age.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the challenges and rewards of caregiving. It was one of the toughest, yet most fulfilling experiences of my life. It brought me full circle in so many ways.
