Every year, the Home Care 100 Leadership Conference serves as a pivotal opportunity to discuss industry trends, challenges, and developments with the industry’s most forward-thinking leaders.
2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the annual leadership conference. This year’s Conference by Lincoln Healthcare Leadership was a 4-day event of insightful panel discussions and networking opportunities in Scottsland, AZ.
The event began with an amazing first day of recreational events and a welcome reception followed by 3 days of thought-provoking, motivating, and informative talks regarding the current business landscape and the future direction of the home care industry.
Seema Verma, Former U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator, in her keynote speech expressed excitement for an advanced era of data-tracking & technology, value-based care as well as home care.
Most noteworthy to the attendees, however, was her validation of the rise of home care in the U.S. healthcare system. The United States is transitioning to investing more in care at home, which will result in massive growth for the industry.
“I think this is the shift to the home. This is the turning point” stated the former CMS administrator. “It was kind of going on before but COVID really accelerated that. At the same time, there’s a lot of new technology out there that’s enabling that, such as telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and there’s an understanding and appreciation and potential for going out in the home.”
Additionally, home-based care saw regulations come into play, such as the electronic visit verification (EVV) for Medicaid providers which is further elevating the level of home care in the U.S.
Al Gore addressed the Home Care 100 conference attendees on the rapidly shifting healthcare economy.
“Home care is central to the sustainable health care system,” he said. “For me, a sustainable health care system provides the right care, in the right place, at the right time, to everyone. And that involves a focus on prevention, rehabilitation, and keeping patients out of the hospital by offering cost-effective, high-quality care and surroundings that are comfortable and beneficial for their physical and mental health. This is why home care has been a simple plank of President Biden’s agenda.”
He explained why more money should be allocated to home-based care.
Gore argued that shifting more value and risk to home-based care providers in the future will result in better outcomes and lower overall healthcare costs in the country.
That concludes the highlights of this year’s Home Care 100 Conference. Home Care 100 clearly is a platform that provides a forum for senior executives in home care to share ideas and best practices, as well as discover new ways to achieve organizational and management excellence. With their 20th conference, they’ve taken another step toward helping the entire home care system move toward greater value
